March 12, 2012, Patriot Party with Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers a Huge Success

On Monday evening March 12, SVARW held a Patriot Party with Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers as our guest speaker.

The standing-room only event was at the home of Norm and Janet Nedde in Los Gatos. Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers, who represents Eastern Washington, spoke about how Republican women are becoming much more energized and involved in the political arena, particularly since the 2008 election.

She cited 2010 as an example, when 128 women ran for congressional and house seats across the country. At the party, Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers spoke about jobs bills, budgets and recent efforts to pass the Keystone pipeline project.

She also spoke about the prospect of the repeal of Obamacare.  McMorris Rodgers is the Eastern Washington campaign chair for the Romney 2012 campaign and is very optimistic about the 2012 elections. As part of the event, SVARW was pleased to announce the Congresswoman as an honorary member of SVARW. We look forward to hearing about her future victories in Congress that will affect us all.

Elected to the House in 2004, Rep. McMorris Rodgers has earned the trust of her constituents and praise on Capitol Hill for her hard work, conservative principles, bipartisan outreach, and leadership ability. Currently serving her second term as Vice Chair of the House Republican Conference, she is the only woman and the youngest Member of the elected House Republican Leadership.

Chief Accomplishments:

In 2011, as part of the New Republican Majority, Cathy championed pro-growth economic policies to create jobs. She supports less taxation, less regulation, less government spending, repealing the government takeover of health care, and a complete stop to government bailouts. She is the author of HR 2313 which would stop US tax dollars from being used in the $1.3 trillion European bailout fund. As a member of E&C, she is encouraging the use of American resources, including hydropower, to help us become energy independent. Cathy is also a strong advocate for Eastern Washington's service members, veterans, and their families.

Cathy is the Co-Chair of seven Congressional caucuses: Down Syndrome, Disability, Military Family, Lumber, Neuroscience, the Rural Health Coalition, and Republican New Media. She is Vice Chair of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucus and the Hi Tech Working Group. In addition, she served on the House Armed Services Committee for three terms.

Most recently, on February 18, Cathy delivered the Weekly Republican Weekly Address where she drew attention to the fact that President Obama broke his promise to cut the deficit in half and noted that House Republicans, as part of their Plan for America’s Job Creators, are offering a pro-growth budget that lifts the crushing burden of debt and creates a better environment for private-sector job creation.
