Coming up in the November 2020 election, nearly 200 local non-partisan seats are up for election.
Republicans can win election to non-partisan seats in Santa Clara County because there is no (D) or (R) after the candidate’s name. Example of these seats are:
- School board
- City and town councils
- Special Districts including water, sewer, hospital, open space, etc.
Unfortunately in 2018, Republicans only had 18 candidates running with 196 seats available. One of those candidates, SVARW member Linda Chavez, managed to win even though she was out-spent two-to-one by her opponents for the Alum Rock School Board. Republicans can win!
